I recently traveled to Scotland with a friend and was a great trip. The fact is that there are some things you should know about Scotland. It will help make your trip more enjoyable.

Pubs and Restaurants
If you go to a pub or restaurant you would think it strange, because the waiters do not come to you and ask you what you want to order. Overall in Scotland, go to the bar to order things.
I’ve heard that many people thought this was strange, but this is the way it is in Scotland.

Haggis – the national dish
Once you travel around Scotland will be seen that most pubs and restaurants offering haggis as a main course. Haggis is very popular in Scotland and includes many of the intestines of sheep. It is a very salty meal, usually with neeps (yellow turnip) and Tatties (mashed potatoes).

Rental Cars
If you want to rent a car in Scotland you must make sure that you are old enough. Usually places will only hire car rental for people who are older than 20 (that is, you can rent a car with 21). If you rent a car when you are 21 you get a lot of money to pay on top of the actual price of the lease. This is because the younger units pay higher insurance premiums.
Note also that the lowest you can possibly get for renting a car when you book with the correct ticket.

Rain Wipes
The weather in Scotland is strange. It will steady rain for several days without stopping. So before you go to Scotland, be sure to take at least waterproof clothing.

Hostels
When we travel through Scotland we stayed mostly in hostels. Hostels in Scotland are large and clean. We recommend a stay in hostels.
One thing to remember is that you people (not all) a lot cheaper once you joined SYHA. And the Scottish Youth Hostel Association and membership is free. So check it out.
